I have a twist to the question that seems to be as old as laptops
themselves. I've heard many opinions on whether airport x-ray machines
effect the workings of a laptop, but never seen any opinions on those 3M
thingies they seem to hold so dear in university libraries: the ones that
detect uncleared books passing through some sort of a field. Does this
pose no risk or should one make sure the laptop doesn't pass through
these?

Anyone with any experience?
