noisy hard drive?

Yikes, had a long night for the thinkpad last night, was running it until
5am.. turned it on this afternoon, and the drive is exceptionally noisy..
not the drive accessing noise, but just a constant noise while it's spinning..

Is this common? Do I need to have IBM fix it?
