we looked, but rejected Solaris primarily because we thought the availability
of source and rapid interaction on the net was extremely important. Solaris
continues to have performance problems on the PC compared with Linux, we
have heard this from any number of people. I just talked yesterday to
an office that had bought Solaris to put on a Pentium based machine and
they just could not get it to install, and finally junked it and replaced
it with Linux -- no problem.

So all around, we have only heard extra information that makes our choice
seem reasonable, and nothing to the contrary (incidentally the high price of
Solaris was another definite detriment for out use).
