How to 28.8Kbps on Megahertz XJ2288 PCMCIA Modem?

Hello everyone,

My ThinkPad (760CD) has Win95 configured with remote access to our company's LAN.

I have the Mwave 2.1 drivers installed and a PCMCIA Megahertz XJ2288 modem.

With the Mwave modem, I always connect with my host at 28800 bps.

With the XJ2288 modem, only rarely do I connect at 28800. Most of the time it connects at 26400 and sometimes at even lower speeds.

Why doesn't it connect at 28800 bps like the Mwave does?

This is with the same telephone line and cable.
