Well, half wrong :-)
Yes, performance will decrease, but not as much as you might imagine for
many tpyical applications if you enable Automatic Clock Control:
"With this option, the processor speed is boosted up
to its maximum for a certain period when a key is
pressed or hard disk access access occurs."
"Frankly, I'm not sure what the fuss is about, the thing is warranteed for 3
years. IBM should be savvy enough to make a machine that will last that long.
And face it- you'll probably have a new machine by then anyway ;)"
The machine may be warranteed for three years, but is your lap?
