On several occasions I have had to go into the cc:mail mobile (or location?)
setup and reduce speed to 9600kbps, especially on larger mail messages, to get
it to keep from failing. Don't recall getting the tone that you are referring
to, (although it's been a while). This problem was not specifically related to
Mwave modems though. Other modems also had the same problem.

I'm new to the list and appreciate any assistance. I
support several others with 75x/760x models.

One user with a 760ED, 32MB RAM, Mwave 28.8 has multiple
          problems with dialing.:

          1. Dialing from a hotel in US to electronic mail system in
US. Everything works fine. Calls again. Gets a dial tone,
begins to connect but does not complete the connection. The
modem generates a tone which does not stop until the
application is closed (cc:Mail Mobile). Retries and has same
          problem. Any ideas?

          2. Found it very difficult to get a high speed connection
(14.4/28.8) while traveling abroad. Does anyone have any
experience with this? We are involved in multiple countries
          (throughout Asia, Middle East, Europe).

          Thanks again,
