Alas if this were only true. The video chip is bad.
Both the screen and the external monitor are unable to
provide a proper display. Tomorrow it gets sent to Easyserve.

On my call for people with a spare 701, thanks to those who've
responded but I've figured a way out of this mess -

The machine still boots up and thanks to a PCMCIA ethernet
card and inetd from the eXceed package I could ftp into the 701
and get the files that I needed out of it. Huzzah that
FrameMaker files are portable -
