Is the mouse plugged into the PS/2 port, or the serial port? I know it sounds strange but most serial to PS/2 adapters don't work worth a damn. I can even tell you the adapter will work fine with one machine, but not another. If you have the unit plugged into the PS/2 port, try plugging it into the serial port, and see what happens.

Subject: 701 and MS Intellimouse
I recently upgraded to office 97 on my 701. Office came with an
Intellimouse but I can't seem to get it to work on my machine. The
machine won't even recognize that the mouse is attached. I don't have
any conflicts according to the device manager and I have disabled the
internal pointstick III. I know the mouse works because I got it to
work on my desktop. Any ideas why it won't work on my 701?
