For those who didn't surf there, Norton AV apparently flags lots of
perfectly OK IBM files as infected. I wonder whether the next version
of IBM AV will similarly flag Symantec software:-) BTW, one of the
machines my wife manages recently came down with one of the older
boot-sector viruses (whose name I can't recall). This machine had IBM
AV installed and in monitor mode! This shook my faith in this and all
such programs. (BTW, this virus compromised quite a lot of medical
research data, and was only discovered by accident. Otherwise, that
data would have been used in documenting effectiveness of some
hospital intensive care procedures. I wonder how much medical research
nowadays suffers from such viruses. Until this incident it never
occurred to me that these virus writers might actually be killing
people!)
