Think you'll find you can get the 8x Panasonic (KXL-783A) for under
$299. I bought one for my 560 from CDW and am very pleased. It has
some fairly good speakers (nice for presentations) and plug-and-played
perfectly.

Subject: Experience with EXP CD-ROM drive?

        Hello:

I'm contemplating buying a 4x PCMCIA CD-ROM drive to use with my

Thinkpad 560. I'm considering buying a unit made by EXP that
sells for
$160, compared with $299 for units from Sony (a 6x) and
Panasonic (4x).

One difference is that the EXP unit weighs 3 lbs, but I'm not
planning
on moving it, anyway; I just want something faster than a
parallel port
        model.

Has anyone had experience with this unit? EXP claims that it is

compatible--is anybody using it with a 560? Am I better off
spending
the extra $140 to buy the Sony or Panasonic?

        Thanks.
