I had the same problem with my speaker in my 701, and I tried fixing the headphone jack, which was giving
off AC line noise when being powered through the worldwide adapter I use. Unfortuantly, a contact on the
jack broke loose, but now the speaker works, with distortion because I used to poke at it to get it to work.
