Ah, the joys of Plug and Pray! Make sure that you've disabled the Mwave
modem. Also, make sure that you have disabled the InfraRed port. If you
don't use it, disable the external COM port, too. Boot the machine.
Then, go into Control Panel | System and look at the COM ports in the
configuration manager. You should have the ones you need where you want
them. Activating and deactivating the various COM ports within the
configuration manager may also be necessary.
Apparently, the Thinkpad Plug-n-Play BIOS and Win95's Plug-n-Play
support work cross-purposes for some reason most of the time.
