I read somewhere, in one of the on-line versions of PC Magazine
or something like that, that the P166MMX mobile-version chip used
the most power when compared to all of the mobile processors.
Even when compared against the faster mobile processors P233MMX,
PII-233, PII-266, etc. the P-166 MMX was the dubious winner.
More power means more heat in your lap.

My anecdotal two cents: I own a TP760XL (P166 MMX), played alot
     with a couple versions of the 560 (P133, P120), 760EL (P133),
a bunch of Compaq Armadas (4120T), TP701C. The hottest machine
by far is my very own 760XL (groan). If you really believe in
labels, if you used the 760 XL on your laptop, you could easily
sterilize yourself (if you're a male).

The 600 does not have legs. There is no provision to tilt the keyboard. The
770
does have legs.

In my experience, of a 760C, a 760E, a 770, and now a 600, the 760E was *by far*
the hottest of the bunch. The 600 is a bit warmer than than the 770, but not
too
bad. The amount of heat depends on how busy the CPU is and what surface it is
on. It seems that the newer 233/266 Pentium and Pentium II chips run a lot
cooler
than the 150/166 Pentium in the 760E.
