This is getting off-topic for this list. My point was that enhanced text email
is inevitable, and - while we should keep it off lists like this one until it is
pretty universal - anyone who avoids finding a convenient way of dealing with it
will find online life increasingly annoying as time goes on. Deletion is one OK
way of dealing with it (though it doesn't work on digested lists); reading it
normally seems to me to be a lot less stressful. Meanwhile, I don't think it
serves any purpose to berate people who use it, other than a gentle reminder
that it is currently inappropriate on this list.

Paul, in your case I think your mailer is improperly configured, since it saves
all attachments in an unreadable .ATT form. Better would be a *more* primitive
mailer (like Pine or Elm), which just shows the offending message as source text
with all the embedded HTML codes, or one which is MIME-aware enough to at least
parse the attachment's type, if not display it normally.
