        Can't answer the first question, but regarding the second...should be
"No". The video driver talks to the chipset logic. The interface dealing
with how the display itself functions is a physical one, and hence doesn't
(shouldn't) require any special driver issues of any kind--just for
whatever video chipset is involved (for the 600, Neomagic).
