Hi,
having read numerous reports that it IS possible to install RealPlayer 5.0 and run it under
WinOS2, I today set out to try it myself.
As you can see from the fact that I post here, I didn't succeed completely :-(
I am running Warp 4 (no fixpacks) on an IBM ThinkPad 760 ED which has an MWave DSP
for the sound - and that seems to be the cause of the problem. For whenever I start a file
or open a .ram file on the net, after a split second I get a General Protection Fault and that
was it...
The problem always is in the file MWDMW16.DLL, which is part of the MWave distribution.
Any ideas?
To make things even more compicated: when I did my first install today (I went through
several trying to fix the problems), I could watch video, but didn't hear sound. So I started
checking the MWave installation in WinOS2. Unfortunately I don't quite remember what I
did - I started the mixer app, and discovered that there was indeed sound there.
But after that, RealPlayer would always crash. I went through two re-installs, but to no
avail.
I'd be very grateful for any hints,
thanks in advance,
Andreas
