To see where the ribbon cable (printed wiring ribbon cable) connects to the system board, you
must remove the keyboard..
there are several screws under the machine that must be taken loose, esp a long one in the
corner.. mark their placement or put tape over the hole to keep the correct screw in its
correct location...
the keyboard unsnaps and then slides forward several mm to become detached..
CAREFUL, there are several delicate PW cables connecting it to the system board..
now you should see the connectors for the top cable.. and the ferrite core around them..
if the cable appears undamaged and the connectors are tight then there is little reason to
believe the trouble lies here..
but at least you can swap parts around if need be.. (tops i mean)
one test i would do is connect an external monitor to the machine and see if it displays the
same symptom..
if so, then the problem is the video board, if not then the problem is in the display..
there is little else i can do to help diagnose or cure this problem..
