OK, sorry..
i just read this messgae..
three cables to the top..
the mic cable (busted), the power cable adjacent to the mic cable and the video cable..
the brown thing with the curly part..

see the other message.. nre. removing the kbd..

the T-1 trox is for the 4 screws along the front edge..
tine and prone to disappearing in carpet.. :-)

only remove the kbd if all else fails..

see other msg. re. testing with an external monitor..

note these thoughts and facts:
1. there are two different active display models.. parts are not interchangeable..

2. i believe IBM sill sell only the entire top assy..

3. the white screen sounds like it may be a video problem with the video and not a cable problem, but
who can be sure at these distances.. sounds like all the data information is gone and all you get is the
backlight..?!?!!

4. there are hardware manuals on the ibm web site.. or there were.. the 701 was/is included..

5. i MAY be wrong about the displayt assy.. the LCD cable has a FRU# 04H4839
be sure that you get the right cable for your particular display.. remember, there are TWO different
active displays.. i have this cable and i need the other cable..

6. mic FRU # 04H8328
