Sigh....
Esmail,
I'm replying in a public post as more people may NOT understand the
game.(grin)
1 You are a wet dream as far as companies are concerned re. promos/Evals.
2 The whole purpose is SEEDING !!
They want to get their(new) product in as many INFLUENTIAL hands as
possible.
Grad students are very high on the list.
It's the same reasoning that Universitys get "Deals" from Microsoft ,Apple,
IBM etc.
3 They CAN'T udercut their dealers or no one will carry their product. It
is a bit of a tightrope ;-}
Therefore advertising of these type of offerings is usually in "insider"
type magazines. PC WEEK ,INFOWORLD etc.
If you have an address , any type of corporate /educational /self employed /
type status you can get these deals.
Curently all(?) the combo cards from 3COM are available for half price if
there is a 56K something in them.
You can even play SMC off against 3COM ...ie "But 3COM is offering us their
100bit/56K V.90 for $X.X; How come you can't? "(grin)
Try 1-888-906-3com also the offers are usually on their Web (somewhere ;-}
and
Call SMC's Inside Sales Group at 1-800-553-7731
http://www.smc.com/Special_Offers_Index.html
etc.........
