Word for Windows v.6.0c seems to open files at a crawl. Although
it may take several seconds (30 seconds or more) to open a file,
it seems like an eternity. There appears to be much disk activity
or thrashing.

I do not recall this apparent slowness until recently. FWIW,
other Win-OS2 programs seem to open files quickly including MS
Excel v.5.0c.

I do not know if the phenomenon relates to OS/2 Warp 4, the
Thinkpad, Windows or Winword.

The system is a Thinkpad 770, P-233, 160mb ram, Warp4 fp5.

I have inspected the CONFIG.SYS and do not see anything unusual or
out of kilter.

I have inspected the object settings for both full screen and
seamless WINOS2. The object settings seem as always and in order.

I have reviewed WINOS2 SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI, and again do not
see anything unusual or out of order.

I have reinstalled Winword.

Does anyone have suggestions as to where to look or what to do?

I do not recall installing any new programs, either OS/2 or
WINOS2, recently.

I did download some Microsoft True Type fonts for Win95, and
installed them into WINOS2 not long ago. Such fonts include MS
Comic Sans and others.

Warmest Regards.
Mike
