Jane, the objection as to the political correctness of my remark is
noted. I realize that I should have asked:
"Bill, who do you call before you try a new cereal?"
What I meant with this remark, obviously (I thought), is that if we go
through life asking some authority for permission everytime before we try
something new, we don't get very far. While I will simply try something
out after careful consideration of the risks and chances, some people
will wait for permission before taking even the smallest steps.
If you have ever read Kafka's "The Trial", you may remember the scene in
the cathedral that deals with this very problem.
This is all the additional bandwidth that I am willing to waste on the
subject.
