I don't know what is a good case, but I can tell you what is a *bad* one:
the Port cases with the "sling" suspension. My ThinkPad 600 has two big
scratches in its top cover, thanks to the idiotic design of the Port sling
case. There is *nothing* separating the two hard plastic buckles from the
ThinkPad case, so all it takes is a little pressure on the case and you've
got scratches. As long as you keep the case standing on end, you're OK, but
set it down flat with a few heavy items in the side pouch and then go for a
drive: presto! instant scratches!
At least the inside of the computer is OK...
