The recovery CD IBM offers (with machines usually) will restore the
complete preload..

to make a CD with all the various driver updates is a good idea, which
IBM used, for upgrading to win98.. the cost was $10..

the problem is that the updates change too often.. thus the d/l
ability.. aka an FTP site..

:-)

what you can do is make a CD of you current stable OS and then restore
it..
there are considerations, but it can be done by anyone with the hardware
and a bit of knowledge and patience..
