Just another partition, not bootable, for backup, etc. The problem after
using fdisk and creating 2 partitions (1 "DOS" as I recall, one
"extended") was that upon reboot, the OS remapped some of the drive
letters, and some of the new "drives" would not open (got the "not ready"
dialog).

What I expected: 5.1g Drive 1 = C: D: E:
                  3.2g Drive 2 = F: G:

What I got 5.1g Drive 1 = C: ok; D had become E:; D was unreadable
                  3.2g Drive 2 = F: (the DOS partition?); G was
unreadable

It's quite possible I misused fdisk, or there is some obvious way to make
sure the virtual drive letters come out the way you want. Any tenderfoot
help is appreciated.

You see the point: if the new drive is formatted under FAT32, it could
be one big partition, take up only one drive letter, and perhaps the
problem would go away. (Yeah, right.)

I have WIN95 OSR2--but I didn't know there were versions of that;
presumably my OS is FAT32 capable, since fdisk asked me if I wanted to
use it on the new drive (I now retroactively realize; <sigh>). The OS
will see both FAT16 and FAT32 drives, right? And let you copy files
between them and all? Or are you saying that if the C: drive is FAT16,
all the drives must be...?

oy--at least the machine doesn't crash every 3 minutes!
