I think it has been explained before hereabouts, BUT.. :-)
to have ANY possibility of success with scenario no. 1 will require that
the 2nd HDD be an EXTENDED DOS partition..
you would use FDISK to make the drive thus, but first you will need to
delete the current partitions..
