I just bought the same unit myself new from warehouse.com for $1200, I can
answer some of your questions.

12.1" screen, 800x600x16bpp
I *think* it has 2MB video ram, maybe someone else can answer that

2 pcmcia slots
infrared

I'm running debian linux 2.0 successfully, and I've run slackware on a very
similar unit (I'm much happier with debian!).

My unit had a faulty pcmcia slot that took me a while to diagnose, but
easyserve repaired it quickly under warrantee.

I don't recall exactly where, but when I was deciding on this unit I found a
pdf with some 560E specs on ibm's site.
