We're hitting crunch time, it seems. I've been planning to buy
another 560, this time the X model, for almost a year now. While lots
of folks on the list decided to go with the 600, I've held out. The
only thing that interested me in the 600 series is the long-promised
option of a DVD drive. I've got a DVD player and a library of about 60
movies, and the option of watching some of them on a nice 13" display
while I'm on the road is appealing. But the drive was promised in
June, and nothing has been said since.
Now I'm hearing inklings that Toshiba is coming out with a slimline
DVD drive for the Tecra 8000 models in October, and I can't imagine
IBM being far behind those guys. Has anyone heard anything about a
DVD-ROM for the UltraSlimBay finally making the scene?
