Went to install PC DOS 7 on a 760E. Everything went OK until I tried
to install the CD-ROM drivers for DOS/3.1. Now it says that there are
not enough drive letters. This is on the 5.1G HD. Lastdrive=z, no
lastdrive statement makes no difference. The DOS partition is 408megs &
is preceeded only by OS/2 boot manager. I've tried it with all the other
partitions laid out & with only boot manager & the DOS C: partition, the
rest freespace, no difference.
Needless to say, it made installing win98 impossible since there was
no way to access the CD. I eventually got it installed by copying the CD
to the hard drive (different partition) but when I was done, 98 had no
ROM drive.
But somewhere along the way I did manage to get it to install
correctly from the CD but later I found that it was again missing & that
the DOS was booting up with not enough drive letters again. Hardware
manager says it's installed OK but it does not show up in my computer,
command line or explorer.
I've got the latest BIOS installed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
thanks...
