Two weeks ago I was bitching about too many sounds. Now it's not enough.
Tried to run RealAudio RealPlayer 6.01 beta 1.1 for the first time and it
seemed to run but wouldn't emit any sound. Poking around, I noticed that
my machine isn't
seeing a sound card. Control Panel>System shows a subheading under Sound,
Video, Game Controllers with a red "x" beside ESS 1688 AudioDrive. I
downloaded and installed a new driver but there was no change. The
thing chirps and bleeps loudly enough, but now plays no RealAudio,
wavs, etc. There *is* a sound card in here, isn't there? And yes, for
those of you snickering, I turned the volume up...
