There seem to be TFT displays of different levels of quality used in
ThinkPads. This is usually due to higher or lower contrast, which I
believe varies between 80:1 and 300:1.

The display on my older 365XD is far superior to the display on our
recent 765D. Especially pale colours are not displayed well; they seem
almost white. The contrast on the 765D is "only" 100:1. Of course it is
still much nicer than an HPA display.
