I HIGHLY doubt that this is illegal. If it is, it's one of those old
outdated laws that are both impractical and impossible to enforce. In fact,
I didn't realize that UPS even ACCEPTED cash for c.o.d orders still. No one
else does. You have to have a cashiers check from a bank or a money order.
That's all most places will take anymore, including FedEx and Airborne
Express.
Besides, it's their business, not federally owned or controlled. If they
want to refuse cash for C.O.D. orders they are perfectly within their right
to do so. If you don't agree with this policy, don't have anything shipped
via them. Good luck finding anyone who will. It's getting so you can't
hardly buy anything at all mail-order unless you have a credit card.
Moreover, paper money is just that...paper... money itself is just a
concept we have accepted to live with. Paper money is outdated and
inefficient, and with all the e-commerce going on it makes me wonder just
how much of our money actually -exists- in paper/coinage.
