IBM made a line of non-mwave macines..
lower cost is the reason..
also, for those who want a modem, the pcmcia slots should suffice..
the plus is you get whatever you want and don't have the uncertainty of the DSP
modem, AND in the 760, the DSP was too slow for SB and full speed modem at the
same time..
these days a non DSM machine is better for some users..

there are a bunch on non-DSP thinkpads..
76xEL, ELD, L and a whole line of 770's..
