I have a 701C at home. The last three times I installed Win 9x on it (yes I
format alot)
all I did was boot to the CD-ROM boot disk, copy the win95 or win98 directory
over and
type setup. For 95 I had to get sound drivers and such. For Win 98 all the
devices were
detected.

You will have to find your TP utility disks, either from copies you have
or from the web for all the drivers needed to be in a directory called
'Thinkpad'. After installing/reinstalling DOS, you will have to create
that directory and put the utilities there. That way, you will have the
sound driver in autoexec.bat and config.sys. Once those things are in
those files, along with anyother drivers you have, you can generally
start your W95 install from DOS.

Any questions, feel free to email me directly, or check out the
following sites:

If you are using a PCMCIA CD-Rom, you will need the TP PC Card Services
>from that first site, so that they will be in config.sys and
autoexec.bat, and then install the driver for the CD and go from there.
