Do Iomega make internal Zip drives for ThinkPads? Where can I find out
more? Does this drive fit into the Ultrabay (where the CD/Floppy drive
normally fits).

Certainly not hot-swappable with my 760CD - maybe that's different for
your machine. This can get annoying sometimes since reooting Windows
98 always takes a fair while on my less than lightning-fast 3-year-old
machine.

VST is ThinkPad Proven, so are CNF

Which bugs are you referring to?

Good luck.

I've used the VST drive with my ThinkPad 760CD for almost a year now.
No problems so far with the drive - some problems with one particular
zip disk though (not sure if this is related to the drive - don't
think so - hope not!). The drive is fast - much much faster than the
parallel port zip drives (I used that previously). Overall, I am happy
with the purchase.
>Also, how about the one made by CNF?
It seems to be to be pretty similar to the VST drive (see
http://www.vsttech.com/ and http://www.cnfinc.com/). However, an
interesting addition (available separately) that CNF offers is the
external Ultrabay replicator with a PCMCIA interface, which can fit
the CNF Zip drive (and presumable *any* other Ultrabay device) for use
externally. However, from the price quoted on their Web site (US$199),
the cost of this is almost as much as the drive itself!
Another option which you may be interested in is the PCMCIA Zip drives
>from Amacom (http://www.amacom-tech.com/) and Novamax (does anyone
know their web site?). However, from the spec sheets, these drives are
a lot slower than the internal ones. Nonetheless, the major advantage
would be the ability to have both the Zip drive and the CD-ROM drive
at the same time (especially in my case where hot-swapping is not
possible). Maybe someone can give us some opinions on these PCMCIA
drives?
