The Systemsoft cardwizard v4 for NT is now on the IBM web site. They list
it as a download only for the the new 390 and 1720 models, but it works on
all the older models as well and they didn't put any lock on it to prevent
you installing it on other models. I upgraded the older version on my
380D and it is a huge improvement - I now can get hot insertion and
removal of my 3COM 3c589 ethernet card, suspend and resume works with a
network card installed and it doesn't break the network connection. I
haven't tried yet with a modem connection - I know I always used to get
Blue Screen of Death if I went into suspend with the PCMCIA modem
connected. Hopefully that is fixed also.
Installation is a little tricky. If you are going to do it follow these
steps EXACTLY:
Boot up NT without cards installed - now uninstall the old cardwizard, if
you have the version before 3.03 then to uninstall you run the setup of
the new version, otherwise use Add/Remove programs from Control panel.
After uninstalling, reboot still without cards installed.
Now install the new cardwizard version. Now reboot again and now you can
install your cards. Play around with the notify options so you don't get
the silly pop up windows every time you insert/remove a card.
