Subject: [TP770ED]: Internal Modem will only connect at 32000bps
Hi everybody,
Since I got my 770ED, my internal modem has only been able to connect at
32000bps, even after all the upgrades available (v2.36).
Technical support and I tried everything without success. I also verified
that my throughput was consistent with the connect speed and it is indeed!
I decided to wait for the v.90 upgrade!
I upgraded to v.90 and my modem still connects at 32000. Keep in mind
though that the modem is connecting using all the protocols (v.90
v.42bis etc...). So at least I know that the modem is connecting using
all the right protocols. BUT it is still stuck at 32000.
I decided to move up to Windows 98. I formatted my hard drive and
performed a clean install of Windows 98. Evrything worked out perfect.
BUT the modem still connects at 32000!?? It is so suspiciously consistent
though! always 32000 exactly.
I asked Tech Support if they had any registers (i.e. Sxx=xx) available but
the answer was no. So they decided to send my laptop in for service.
Before I send my laptop in does anyone have any last minute suggestions?
Jean-Pierre
