Paint came off palm rest of my TP770 twice. With a bit of fuss, IBM fixed
it first time. Have not sent it in again for second repair, but have called
in to make a report. Many others have had similar experiences.

sorry to raise this subject again. I remember it has been dealt with a few
months ago on this list. At that time, some people complained that the
paint on the palm rest of their 600s came off slowly. Yesterday it started
on my TP600 as well. The paint on the loudspeakers started showing tiny
bubbles. They crack open and reveal the blank metal underneath. Not a
pretty sight. :-( This happens only on the left side. I'm left-handed so
this area is exactly where my palm rests usually.
Has anybody found a remedy for this? Is this paint thing covered by IBM
warranty? In Europe as well?
