I hate to overgeneralize, but I treat mailorder computers stuff like I
treat mailorder camera equipment. Stay far away, or at least be very
cautious of vendors in the Northeast. Especially ones based in NY and NJ
(or have the word "Honest" in their name, or the name of a state that
they're not in ;-). I've found that their deals are rarely worth the effort
or potential hassle. This is based on about 15years of personal grief,
returns, and fighting to get an honest deal. *sigh*
Try some vendor keyword searches at www.dejanews.com to read some other
customer horror story examples.

Hello All,

Ok, has anyone had experience with one of these mail-order companies who
regularly advertise in "Laptop buyers guide" mag., and similar
publications?
Eastern computer, Sunshine, Marine Park.....all in NY, phone answered by
gruff,
rude people who are probably part of the "family".

Eastern said " today, because it is raining (cough hack), the 380x
p233/32mb/4gb/12.1 tft/24xcd is 1199 with 3 year IBM warranty".
ummmmmmm really?

Scam or real?
suggested questions I should ask?

james
