Bill,

I have several extra HDs that I use in the UltraBay. A couple are IBM
drives (OEM from 755 and 760 models: 810MB, 1.2GB) and one is a Simple
Technology 2.1GB. They are all 755/760 style drives that I load into
the IBM UltraBay hard drive caddy (the snap-in/out plastic case). I
have Win98, Linux, and NT5 Beta2 on these extra drives. I didn't buy
any of them from you (but you did originally help me figure out that
such a caddy existed about 8 months ago!).

All of the extra hard drives boot fine from the UltraBay when the BIOS
is set to boot from HD #2 first and the main TP770 HD is in the
ThinkPad. My problem is that the 770 refuses to boot from the 2nd HD if
the main 770 HD isn't in the PC. If the BIOS says to boot from HD #2
then I don't understand why it would care if HD #1 is installed or not??

Thanks for following up...

Rob
