Power:
UK is using 240V, so check if your power pack supports this (the power pack
should be labelleded something like 110V-240V to support this). If your
power pack is 110V only then you need to get (1) another power pack that
supports 240V (either a 240V only, or a 'world-wide' that covers the whole
spectrum), or (2) a power converter that plugs into the UK wall socket and
give you a US 110V output (this is available at several stores on Tottenham
Court Road in London). The come in different wattage, so select one that
can support the maximum power you need at any given time. The advantage of
the latter is that you can use it for other 110V equipment also, but it can
be quite expensive.
UK is using a large 3 pronged wall socket, so you need a plug converter
that will allow you to plug into the wall. This is available in many stores
that sells travel equipment, particularly in airports. Of course, you do
not need this if you get the 240V-to-110V power converter that already give
you a US plug out.
Phone adapters:
UK use an odd-looking flat phone plug and the wiring in their RJ-11 is
somewhat different than the 'norm'. The easiest thing is to buy a US-to-UK
plug, which is a connector that has a female end takes the RJ-11 in, and a
male end that plugs into the wall socket. This one can be found in
electronics stores. If you buy an external modem in UK, they normally(?)
come with the UK wiring and you cannot just use in other countries unless
you use their 'proprietary' cable with them (which basically just is a
different wiring of the extension cable).
Hope this helps.
