If it isn't the tube, it could be the inverter board, which converts the power from
12VDC to the a thousand or so volts that the tube needs. That's what I would
replace next. I actually have one from a 355C, but don't know if it
would be the same (though the 355/360/750/755 series are VERY similiar).

I have a similiar problem on another non-IBM notebook, but I think it's the bulb.
