Also check the wiring of the switch at the left top of the base unit right in front
of the hinge. Failure of this switch will prevent the display from illuminating.
Depressing the switch while the unit is on should give you an audible signal,
even under DOS.
Let me know if it's the inverter board. I'll be parting out a 755CD this week
which has a shattered display. The DPO swears that his 6 year old attempted
to crack a walnut in it!
