1410 problems, less-than-great IBM service

I type this on an ancient 360C because my month-old i1410 went
suddenly dead New Year's Eve. It was in suspend screen and would not
come on, even with the IBM tech giving me every direction in the
world. Then it came on Saturday, then on and off, etc. I made
arrangements--or so I thought--to have the box sent to me so I could
send the 1410 to be repaired (and this was New Year's Eve, Thursday);
no box had arrived today so I called, waited on hold for two hours,
then found out the order for the box to be sent to me had never been
made. So the box may arrive tomorrow or Wednesday.

I have had Thinkpads for four years and this is the first time IBm
has disappointed me--both in service and also in the fact that there
is a bad connection in my new computer, which I adore.

I guess it's all those people who got computers for Christmas?
