"I made
arrangements--or so I thought--to have the box sent to me so I could
send the 1410 to be repaired (and this was New Year's Eve, Thursday);
no box had arrived today so I called, waited on hold for two hours,
then found out the order for the box to be sent to me had never been
made. So the box may arrive tomorrow or Wednesday."
I'm in a similar situation. I'm travelling in California en route to England;
when I arrived here
on Jan 1 I found the plastic on my 560's lid (around where the latch would
grab) was shattered.
Called IBM, arranged a box. When it wasn't here by Monday noon, I called
again. They promised a box
by Monday afternoon. Here it is Tuesday, still no box. (I just called
again,...) For me
there's a *big* time constraint - if I don't get the machine repaired and back
by the weekend,
they'll have to ship it to me in England (where I'll be for over 5 months).
I think Airborne (wo ships the boxes) is having trouble because of the
holidays and the
midwestern weather.
BTW, while my original warrantee was supposed to expire last year (I bought an
extended
warrantee), when I called IBM they told me that my original warrantee was
still in effect.
Strange! Incidentally, does anybody remember the number one calls to
"register" a US warrantee
in Europe?
