        Wow, I put that baby right into the zone! ;-) Thanks for checking those
specs, John.

        Sounds right, but in reality I find these wired transfer rates to be way
below their presumed "capacity". Standard Ethernet is supposed to be
capable of 10 Megabits per second but the reality is when I do file
transfers over it with my home-spun Ethernet system, I typically get
somewhere around 3 rather than 10. Of course, there is protocol overhead
and whatnot, but the fact remains that the reality is around 1/2 what the
stated / theoretical rate is. I'm guessing the parallel port speed is a
similar issue.
