Hello,
Actually parallel port rates vary depending on the type. If you can set
the port mode to ECP or EPP then you get about 700 to 900 kB/sec.
A standard bi-directional port is about 200 to 500 kB/sec I believe.
I use the SCSI version of the Zip drive as I tend to get SCSI cards
for all my computers (including a Adaptec 1460 for my 365ED).
The SCSI capability is handy for backing up to 8mm tape now that
laptop drives are in the multiple gigabyte range. I remember when
I could not fill a 2.2 Gigabyte tape with one backup. Now I need
multiple tapes.
