MP3s and battery consumption

not at all. On my TP600 (P233, 64 MB, Linux 2.0.35 and x11amp) playing
MP3s is hardly a strain on the battery. During a longish train trip
yesterday, I played MP3s for two hours and the battery was still at >60%.
I have to admit that the lid was closed, so the display was turned off. I
suppose it might make a difference to use the internal speakers instead of
a Walkman headset.

Usually, x11amp---which is comparable to Winamp---uses about 20% of the
CPU's computing power.
