Well I have got ADSL through an ethernet adapter at home and use the LAN
at work for my internet mostly, so I only use the modem occassionally -
and I haven't owned a 56k before so I don't really know what the speed
should be like. It doesn't seem to be much speedier than
what I was used to before (28k8) but it does the work I guess.

Nope, not yet. And if I do, I'll get because the Selectadock requires
the Selectabase - the Selectabase itself doesn't offer that much to
me.

Well if I was going to get SCSI, I would get it primarily for speedy
access to large capacity harddrives in the Selectadock (harddisk
recording etc.). I've read some discussions about Adaptec SCSI
cards and its compatibility in Thinkpads, but don't quite remember
the outcome. Maybe should ask the ThinkPad Mailing List
(thinkpad_at_cs.utk.edu), there are a lot of knowledgeable 770 users
there.

Enjoy your Thinkpad!

Jeroen
