With a terminal program (I use ZOC) call the USR test number 18472626000

I think you log in as "line" and use test as the PW - not really sure and
I purged my ZOC logs before my last backup.

xDSL and Cable modems require an external box and an ethernet NIC in your
computer. You won't find either service on the road (at least that you
can casually hook up to without establishing an account).
