mwave modems work better with some modems than others..i.e. digital modems and
mwave don't get along too well..

you bet..v.90
stay with 3-com or any other top brand..
the difference between unbranded and branded is trivial when it comes to
support..

phone lines matter..here, i have computers and modems all OVER the house..
well, my wife limits me to one room.. but i sneak out with LAN wires.. heh,
heh.. :-)
the point is, on the same phoine lines i achieve 52k with one modem on one
ISP, and 32k with the same lines and ISP and my 770X mwave modem (AFTER the
v.90 upgrade)..
so, while the lines DO matter, thats not ALL that matters..

ask the phone company to do it.. :-)there are modem makers that maintain a
test #, but i forgot who and where..
i THINK it was USR..
:-)
(read 3-com)
so check web sites..
